Mission

The Chautauqua County Park's Commission strives to improve the quality of life for county residents and visitors by offering a diverse system of parks, trails, and waterways for seasonal and year-round recreational opportunities.

Chautauqua County provides one full time employee and three seasonal employees to support and maintain a combined 154 acres at Luensman Overlook Park, Erlandson Overlook Park, and Millrace Park. Park facilities include picnic pavilions, picnic tables, grills, restrooms, parking areas, and access roads. Each Overlook Park also includes a short and easy one-mile hiking trail.

Park's Division staff members also monitor and maintain the combined 43 miles of the Earl Cardot Eastside Overland Trail and the Fred J. Cusimano Westside Overland Trail and their associated parking and camping areas. In addition, they monitor the access points and infrastructure for the 53 miles of the Marden E. Cobb Waterway Trail, located on the Cassadaga and Conewango Creeks.

The County-managed Parks & Trails are just one component of a robust county-wide network of state forests, state parks, rails-to-trails networks, snowmobile trails, equestrian trails, and active nature and conservation centers.
