MAYVILLE, N.Y.:-- At The Robert H. Jackson Center’s recent program, Chautauqua County Executive Vincent W. Horrigan joined former Chautauqua County Executives to unveil portraits of each of them, which are now permanently on display on the third floor of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St. in Mayville.

“Over the past 42 years, Chautauqua County has been shaped by the leadership of six men who have stepped forward to serve our residents and move our county forward into the community it has become today,” said Horrigan. “I believe it is important to recognize all of our county executives who have helped shape Chautauqua County’s future, which is why I wanted to commemorate their service in some way. I was honored to join my predecessors for this unveiling and I hope this will become a tradition for our future county executives whose portraits will join ours on the wall. I also thank the Robert H. Jackson Center for allowing me to unveil these portraits during its recent program.”

The portraits honor all of the past and present elected county executives and all of the pictures were taken during their terms. Portraits include: Joseph Gerace, who served from January 1, 1975 through May 10, 1983 and was Chautauqua County’s first county executive; John A. Glenzer, who served from November 25, 1983 to December 31, 1989; Andrew W. Goodell, who served from January 1, 1990 through December 31, 1997; Mark W. Thomas, who served from January 1, 1998 through December 31, 2005; Gregory J. Edwards, who served from January 1, 2006 through November 17, 2013; and Horrigan, who will serve from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2017.
